
Kursus: Introduktion til termoplastiske kompositter
Teknologisk Videndeling inviterer – sammen med Plastindustrien – til kursus onsdag d. 1. oktober 2025. Kurset giver en introduktion til termoplastiske kompositter.
Dette kursus gennemgår det voksende felt for kontinuert fiberforstærkede termoplaster — eller termoplastiske kompositter — en ny materialeklasse, som udvider mulighederne for fiberforstærkning i polymerer. Hvor traditionelle kompositter typisk består af en hærdeplastmatrix, som epoxy, kombineret med gennemgående fiberforstærkninger, gør kontinuert fiberforstærkede termoplaster brug af en termoplastisk matrix.
Dermed løses en række udfordringer hos traditionelle materialer, såsom kompliceret lavproduktionshastighed, høje omkostninger, sikkerhedsfaktorer og genanvendelse. Denne enestående kombination af et højt forstærkningsindhold og en effektiv forarbejdning gør disse materialer til stærke konkurrenter til traditionelle materialer som metaller.
Deltagerne vil lære, hvordan termoplastiske kompositter gør det muligt at reducere cyklustider, opnå en iboende genanvendelighed og åbne op for hybridløsninger — alt sammen med det formål at fremstille lettere, mere holdbare, bedre ydende og omkostningseffektive komponenter i en lang række industrier, herunder bil-, forbrugs-, elektronik-, olie-, gas-, fly- og forsvarsindustrien.

Seminar scope
The course will cover the multifaceted nature of thermoplastic composites, guiding participants through:
- their theoretical foundations, building on classical fiber reinforcement theory and highlighting the key roles of fiber type, length and interfacial interaction
- the various product forms available on the market, emphasizing the influence of reinforcement architecture on material properties
- the design, processing and recycling possibilities brought along by this class of materials
- the methods available for hybridization with other reinforced plastics – such as overmolding and joining techniques – to maximize their economic and performance benefits
- the vast application potential, illustrated by concrete use cases across industries
Key learning outcomes
By attending this course, participants will:
- gain a comprehensive understanding of how continuous fibers reinforce thermoplastics
- discover the various product forms available and their inherent advantages and limitations
- investigate crucial factors influencing material selection, including the matrix polymer type and fiber characteristics

Teachers
Vito Leo:
With over 37 years of experience, Vito brings in-depth knowledge of polymer processing and mechanical performance of thermoplastics. His background includes work on injection molding and finite element numerical simulation, coupled with years of academic experience teaching polymer processing.
Hans Miltner:
As a chemical engineer with over 20 years of combined academic and industry experience, Hans has led developments in polymers and composites. With his background in consulting and in managing a materials business, he provides valuable insights into the technical and commercial aspects of polymer innovations.
