Weight reduction is a very important topic in the strive to reduce the environmental impact of products. A wide range of plastic materials enable design of lighter products.
Weight reduction is a very important topic in the strive to reduce the environmental impact of products. The seminar will be held at Fiberline Composites in Middelfart on the 26th of March. The Danish Plastics Federation is co-organizer.
This seminar will cover a wide range of inspiring technologies, cases, and materials all the way from EPS over PPA to extruded profiles with continuous fibers. A day of inspiration for light weight designs in the machine, building and OEM industry.
The seminar will be held at Fiberline Composites in Middelfart, who will give a brief company introduction and guided tour of their production.

||High Performance Solutions With Engineered AirOle Krebs, Nordic Development Manager, BEWi Synbra
This presentation addresses the use of materials such as EPS and EPP, that are historically packaging materials, as construction materials. BEWi’s solutions can replace a number of other materials, especially metal, wood and insulation materials. Ole Krebs will also talk about how to optimize and simplify the production flow, to make the material can meet several needs simultaneously.
Ole Krebs has a commercial background and has been in the business for 25 years. He is a member of the Innovation and Technology GROUP at BEWi Synbra; Raw materials and design.

||From Idea to Prototype – a caseSven Heckermann, CEO, Hetech ApS
Hetech has developed the lightweight power tool ‘List Cutter’ for 3D cutting of, for example, corners on window lists, door panels, electrical panels, aluminum profiles, etc. The ‘List Cutter’ is a handheld power tool that weighs less than 2 kg and can easily be inserted into a belt when not in use. In this presentation, Sven Heckermann will discuss the pros and cons that have led to procedures to further minimize the weight of the patented power tool ‘List Cutter’.
(This presentation will be in Danish)
Sven Heckermann has more than 30 years of experience with development and design of special machines, appliances and products for Danish and foreign companies within Medico, Handicap, Hospital, Toys, Solar panels, etc. He is mentor for start-up companies at DTU Science Park and he is a member of several boards of directors, among others ‘DIRA’ ‘Danish Industrial Robot Association’.

||Lightweight Composite Technologies with a promising link to Injection MoldingNorbert Müller, Head of Technology Development, Center for Lightweight Composite Technologies, Engel Austria GmbH, Austria
Injection molding and processing of thermoplastic composites have more and more in common. The key to large-scale production of composite parts is in the thermoplastic matrix. At ENGEL, sophisticated technologies have been developed for processing of thermoplastic composites, composite tapes with unidirectional reinforcement, and even for caprolactam, which allows for RTM-Processing with a resultant thermoplastic matrix. Benefits, processing challenges, and design concerns will be discussed and exemplified with case studies.
Norbert Müller earned a Master’s and a PhD in Plastics Processing from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He is highly experienced in mold making, plastics processing, foam injection molding and composite processing. Norbert Müller is member of different boards at universities and industry associations.

||Introduction to Fiberline CompositesTorben Rønlev, Vice President, Fiberline Composites
Torben Rønlev will give a brief introduction to Fiberline Composites, a company known for manufacturing profiles and components through pultrusion processes. Their portfolio includes 70 standard profile geometries for the construction industry in addition to custom made profiles for the window and wind turbine industries, a market that has experienced tremendous growth in the last 4-5 years. Torben Rønlev will also elaborate on the increased use of composites, they are anticipating in the coming years.
Torben Rønlev is a communications & marketing professional with 15 years of experience with internal & external communications, public relations, marketing planning, customer experience, brand strategy and sales management on a senior or executive level of large and medium sized companies.
